​If you want your squad name to show up beside your ID in Modern Warfare 4, the setting is tucked away in the Call of Duty HQ profile area rather than the match setup screen. It's easy to miss at first, especially if you've been jumping between modes or checking out MW4 Bot Lobbies with friends. Once you know where the option sits, changing your tag only takes a minute, and you can swap it whenever your group decides on something new.

Start from the main hub

Load into the game and stay at the central multiplayer screen. Open the menu with the Options or Menu button on console, or select the menu icon if you're on PC. From there, move across the top tabs until you reach Profile. It's normally positioned toward the right side. Your Profile page is where the game keeps the public bits of your identity, not just your calling card or emblem.

Choose Edit Showcase.
Open Clan Tag and enter your text.

Find the tag field

Inside Profile, pick Edit Showcase. This section is built for the stuff other players can see when they inspect your account: operator choices, favourite weapons, emblems, calling cards, and similar items. Scroll through the available selections until Clan Tag appears. Select it, and you'll get a small text box. That's the only field you need. You don't have to alter the rest of your Showcase just to update the letters beside your name.

Keep it short and readable

The tag limit is five characters, so short names work best. A group abbreviation, initials, or something like 34K usually fits without any trouble. The text filter may reject language or character combinations that don't meet the game's rules, so if the save option won't accept your choice, trim it down or try a cleaner version. Numbers are useful when your preferred letters are already part of another group idea.

Save it and check your name

Confirm the entry once you're happy with it. Your new tag should appear in brackets next to your display name right away.
